Himachal Day Celebrated at PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Hamirpur

 PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Hamirpur celebrated Himachal Day on 15 April to mark the state's formation in 1948.  Our Vidyalaya also hold special celebrations for Himachal Statehood Day on 25 January, commemorating when it became a full state in 1971. These celebrations typically focus on showcasing the state's "Dev Bhoomi" heritage through cultural and educational activities:

Cultural Performances

·         Traditional Dance (Naati): Students often perform the energetic "Naati," the state's most famous folk dance.

·         Traditional Attire: Students come dressed in colourful Himachali clothing, often including the iconic Himachali caps for boys and traditional scarves for girls.

·         Folk Music: Singing Himachali folk songs and playing traditional instruments is a staple of these events 

·         Fashion Shows: Some schools organize cultural fashion shows where students represent the diverse heritage of different districts.

Educational & Creative Activities

·         Special Assembly: A dedicated assembly featuring speeches about the history and development of Himachal Pradesh. 

·         Literary Competitions: Schools host poem recitations (Pahadi poems), essay writing, and debates centered on the state's beauty and values. 

·         Role Plays: Students may perform skits depicting the integration of princely states or the statehood journey.

·         Art & Quizzes: Activities like "Color Splash" (drawing traditional border designs) or quizzes about state symbols and geography.

Exhibitions & Festivals

·         Flavours of Himachal: Food festivals where students and parents contribute traditional Himachali dishes (Dhaam) to experience local cuisine. 

·         Infographic Expos: Displays showing district maps, cultural artifacts, and historical timelines.
